Process Book

The culmination of the work that I accomplished in my introductory design class.

The objective of this project was to create a process book which showcases all of the work that we have done this semester in class. A process book allows designers to compile all their work together and show the process of how it was created. This is a great opportunity for us as students to show others what we have learned in Art 102. Since design is a visual medium it allows us the opportunity to show examples of what we have learned and how we can apply that knowledge. The Process Book also allows us the opportunity to reflect on our work and look forward to continuing the design process.

To start this project I compiled all of my work into one folder. This was a good starting point because it allowed me to know what I needed to include in the book. Then I created an Adobe InDesign project that I would use to showcase my work. I decided that I wanted the theme of my book to be based on my Artist’s Mark project. Since the monster I used was the Kraken, I felt like a nautical theme would be appropriate. I wanted the colors used and the cover to reflect this theme. I also wanted to base the cover on the Kraken. Once I selected the font styles I wanted for the header, subtitle and body text I arranged the text based on a three column grid. The Process Book was helpful for showcasing my work.

Through this project I learned how to use Adobe InDesign for book design and how to create a Process Book. I learned that InDesign is a very strong tool for page layout and design. I also learned the importance of creating a Process Book to showcase your work. It’s an effective way to compile all your design work into one place. Overall this project was super helpful because it allowed me to see all the work that I’ve done over the semester and now I can show it to others.
